Environmental Consulting, Assessment and Remediation -
Bunker C Release
PLEL
was retained to provide a full range of environmental consulting,
assessment, remediation and design services relative to a major
release of Bunker C. This project involved the drilling of 60
boreholes, groundwater monitor well installation, project management,
data management/analysis and reporting. The work was conducted
in very difficult geological terrain. The scope of work included
detailed site investigation, monitor well installation, groundwater
sampling, laboratory analyses of soil and groundwater samples,
assessment of all results, contractor supervision and documentation.
The project included the management of remedial efforts involving
a municipal storm water drainage way and several affected third
party properties. The site was assessed using RBCA protocols and
a detailed Remedial Action Plan was developed and implemented.
Passive oil/water separation and collection systems were designed
and installed at the site to intercept mobile Bunker C. The recovery
of free Bunker C product from the site continues, with capital
expenditures to date of over $1.5 million.
