Environmental Assessment and Remediation - Vehicle Maintenance Facility
Petroleum
hydrocarbon impacts were encountered in soil outside the site
building during the upgrade of a storage tank system. Investigations
identified several deficiencies in the operation of the vehicle
maintenance garage floor interceptor trenches and oil water separator.
The environmental assessment conducted was thorough and advanced
from non-intrusive through to detailed site investigation involving
groundwater monitor well installation, laboratory analysis of
groundwater for a suite of parameters, data management/assessment
and reporting.
Impacted soil present below the building was excavated in phases.
The floor interceptor trench and oil water separator system were
removed and new systems were installed. PLEL provided site supervision
and direction during the work. Compliance reporting included a
quantitative risk assessment to demonstrate the successful completion
of the remediation project.
