Asbestos materials can have a serious impact on a building's
value, planned renovations or demolition, or even on the
ability of an owner to lease space within a building. PLEL
has developed unmatched expertise and a solid reputation
in the area of Asbestos Control. Services related to asbestos

Surveys
The identification of asbestos, both friable and non-friable,
is mandatory under most provincial regulations in the event of
renovation, demolition or even disturbance during maintenance.
Surveys can be conducted for preparation of specifications, property
transfer, valuation, regulatory compliance or to provide detailed
information for long term asbestos management. The Hazardous Material
Information System (HMIS) is a custom developed, web-based application
that allows rapid data retrieval and manipulation by the client's
own personnel. This system can be accessed for real time data
wherever web access is available.
Analytical Services
Analysis of suspect materials for asbestos content is provided
at the bulk laboratory located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This
laboratory operates to the Quality Management System registered
to the ISO 9001:2000 standard. Our analysts have been formally
trained at the McCrone Research Institute in Chicago, IL. This
provides an accurate and legally defensible analysis for our own
clients, other consultants and building owners who submit samples
directly to our laboratory. The asbestos laboratory is portable
and can be set-up at project sites for immediate sample turnaround.
Pinchin Group laboratories are also located in Mississauga, Ontario
and Edmonton, Alberta.
Asbestos Abatement Project Design and
Management
The
combined construction expertise of engineers, project managers,
estimators and hygienists lead to the production of specifications
for all necessary aspects of asbestos removal or repair, re-fireproofing,
demolition and other related specification sections.
The quality and clarity of these documents make them useful to
all concerned, whether incorporated in larger tender packages
or used as stand-alone documents. The Pinchin Group has in fact
prepared numerous master specifications for governments (federal,
provincial and municipal levels) and the private sector for use
in-house by their designers.
Inspection and Air Monitoring Services
The inspection of asbestos removal is vital to ensure the safety
and peace of mind of occupants and nearby workers, while at the
same time ensuring compliance with governing specifications and
regulations. On-site inspection of the work area enclosure, decontamination
facilities, negative pressure/dust suppression systems, as well
as worker protection measures and final cleanliness levels add
significantly to the quality and safety of each abatement project.
The Firm's field personnel are fully qualified in air sample
collection and analysis and are enrolled in the IRSST Asbestos
Counting Quality Control Program, a comprehensive quality assurance
program.
